Everything I would do if money were no object…
I actually had to sit and think about this one. Because I really just like things simple in life. I don’t want a lot of big gaudy things, like flashy cars, jewelry, and junk. I like what I need and few little things for fun. The more stuff we have here, the more panicked I feel in the cluster.
So I think my list is pretty easy.
1. Travel. Where? All over. During the summer we’d be on the go, exploring new areas from beaches and mountains to amusement and state parks. There is so much I’d like to see out there, and so many places I’d like to take the boys.
2. Build a house. Not a mansion or a castle. Just a house. I already have it in my head what it looks like, inside and out. It has to have porches. More specifically, one big porch that surrounds it. With porch swings. Big kitchen (see further down), living room, 2 offices, playroom, laundry room, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and the only extra in the house would be my in home dojo/yoga studio. Some houses have rec rooms, I want a dojo.
3. Buy a vehicle. I do not want a sports car. What I want is to not have to drive this POS Plymouth Voyager anymore. Or any van for that matter. I’m not a soccer mom. I’m a karate mom. Suzy Homemaker with a twist. And I live between mountains. I want room, and I want power. 3 rows of seats with 4 wheel drive.
4. A kitchen worthy of a chef. I want a huge kitchen with space to move and cook. I want every gadget possible to play with, and I want pantry’s I can stock for the apocalypse. I love to be in the kitchen. I love to cook. I want it all.
5. Karate gear. Any and all. I’d totally buy out our PMSA store. That dojo I talked about building with my house? Yeah, I want it fully stocked. Don’t worry about the Sai. I have those.
6. Yoga gear. Any and all. I want custom mats to fit my mood. I have ideas for yoga clothes that I’d buy the equipment to make myself. I’m a yoga instructor; I want yoga STUFF.
7. Books. Lots and lots of books. You should know by now, I love books. And I read all I can get my hands on. In one of those offices I want ceiling to floor bookshelves, with ladders on wheels. And I want to fill them. I want to read everything.
8. Movies. I love movies. I’m a movie addict. Right now I own close to 300 DVDs. Now, mind you, I don’t have cable in my house. Movies are all we have. I want more. I want movies for every mood. I want movies I grew up on, so my boys can grow up on them. I want movies coming out, so they have something new to grow up on. I hate renting. That means I have to remember to return it. Or I have to leave my house on a day at home to return something I did remember. And? I have to pay off those late fees before I can rent more.
9. Boots. All shapes, sizes and colors. During the summer, I am barefoot. I carry flip-flops in my car in case I have to run into a store, or, incase I get pulled over. Apparently it is illegal to drive with no shoes. My feet are conditioned. They have to be for karate. Kicking would just plain hurt otherwise. I run across the gravel roads here. It doesn’t phase me. But come fall, I’m all about my boots. If I have to wear anything on my feet it better have a heel and come to my knees. Unless it is my light suede flat boots that come to my calves. Because those look just awesome over yoga pants when having to trek through snow.
10. Art. Preferably photos and illustrations by Rob Sheridan. Though there are a few others I’d like to own as well.
11. Play gyms. 2 of them. This picture is one my step-dad built for my boys at his house. It’s not all finished here in the picture, but by the end there was even a zip line off the back. I want one in my yard for the boys. And I want an indoor play gym for the boys in the playroom. So on those rainy days, I know they are getting to use their imagination, and energy, to the fullest.
Really? I don’t think that is asking much.
How about you?
*The 50-50 Challenge is an idea that Lori and I came up with. Go read her awesomely brilliant blog, and her challenge along with mine. We got the idea after reading another random blog post from Demanding Joy on 50 Lists to Write to Lift Your Spirits. And well, we were inspired.
Ooh, a zipline would be awesome. My dad’s best friend from college owned several acres of land in the Poconos and he had a zipline in the woods – I loved visiting him.
I go through the “if I won the lottery tonight” often in my head. I have the house I want, along with a HUGE study filled with bookshelves. I’d have ludicrous upgrades made to both the kitchen and bathrooms (they’re all 70’s chic), I’d hire someone to take care of the yard work, I’d have one of those endless pools installed so that I could swim (it would have to double as a hot tub), and I’d rework my basement to better suit martial arts & yoga training (maybe hire an in-house Sifu & yoga master).
I’d likely buy a simple condo at the beach that could comfortably fit the family (just so that there was a place to “get away,” if it were absolutely needed), but that would be it, I think.
Where you’d overindulge in boots, I’d have bicycles for every occasion. And on the topic of shoes, I can’t even imagine trying to kick somebody with shoes on. I think I’d break my foot trying.
We love the zipline! I’ve learned though not to keep the handle in front of my face. It kind of hurts when the rope hits the brake board. lol
I have lots of interior design ideas for my house, in my head. But I don’t want to hire anyone to do that stuff for me. Part of what I love is being able to work in my home and around it. I have pride in that.
Having a dojo and yoga studio is my dream.
lol And yeah, kicking with shoes just seems really off. Trying to get your foot to the right positioning. Though kicking someone with one of my shit kickers boots might be fun.
i am DYING here.
the first things on our list are exactly the damn same!!!
this was great, C 😀

I stumbled across this blog while searching for a picture of some books. This is quite interesting. I think I now have an idea for a future blog post. Lol. Travel would definitely be the first thing on my list, too! 🙂
